Former Super Eagles left-back Juwon Oshaniwa has singled out Lionel Messi as the greatest footballer of all time following Argentina’s opening match at the World Cup. Messi delivered a stunning hat-trick in a 3-0 win over Algeria, taking his all-time World Cup goals tally to 16 and drawing level with Miroslav Klose as the tournament’s joint-top scorer. Oshaniwa, who faced Messi in Nigeria’s 3-2 loss to Argentina at the 2014 World Cup, described sharing a pitch with the Argentine captain as an “honour”. He called Messi the toughest opponent he has ever encountered. Argentina now look to secure progression when they meet Austria on June 22 and Jordan on June 28 in their final group fixtures.
