Spain’s Supreme Court Clears Neymar and Barcelona in Santos Transfer Fraud Case

Spain’s Supreme Court Clears Neymar and Barcelona in Santos Transfer Fraud Case

Spain’s Supreme Court has dismissed an appeal against the 2022 acquittal of Neymar and former Barcelona presidents Sandro Rosell and Josep Maria Bartomeu. The court ruled there was no evidence of fraud or corruption in the player’s 2013 move from Santos FC. Prosecutors had sought a two-year prison sentence for Neymar and a €10 million fine. They argued Brazilian firm DIS was deprived of its full share after paying for 40 percent of the player’s economic rights. The decision ends a long-running legal battle over one of football’s most high-profile transfers, permanently clearing all parties of wrongdoing.

It's surprising that years of investigation didn't turn up any solid evidence against Neymar or Barcelona.

No be small thing for all those charges to drop, but it still raises eyebrows about the whole process.
