AMAC and SDF International Mark Menstrual Hygiene Day with Pad Distribution in Six FCT Schools
Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), in partnership with SDF International Initiative, will visit six Federal Capital Territory schools on June 3 and 4 to mark World Menstrual Hygiene Day under the theme “Together for a Period Friendly World.” Over the two-day outreach, 4,000 sanitary pads and dignity kits will be given to girls at Model Primary School Garki Village, JSS Kabusa, Government Day Secondary School Karu, GSS Gosa, JSS Dutse, and another Government Day Secondary School. With more than 60% of Nigerians under age 30, period stigma and inadequate WASH facilities often keep girls out of the classroom. AMAC Council Chairman Christopher Zakka said the initiative aims to create “period-friendly” environments so no student misses school due to her cycle. AMAC and SDF International Initiative are calling on the FCT Administration, private sector partners, faith groups, and community leaders to support affordable sanitary products and improved WASH facilities in all FCT schools.
