Embracing Our 'Light Afflictions' for Eternal Glory

2 Corinthians 4:17 reminds us that our brief struggles produce an eternal weight of glory. Jesus warned in John 15:20 that His followers would face persecution just as He did. Even severe trials—rejection, poverty, sickness or delays—are called “light afflictions” by scripture. They last only for a moment and, with God’s help, we can endure and overcome them. Psalm 30:5 assures us that weeping may last through the night, but joy comes in the morning. The story of Lazarus in Luke 16 shows how earthly suffering pales beside everlasting delight in heaven. Let us carry our crosses with faith and patience. Our hardships are not in vain. They will yield an exceeding and eternal reward when we enter into glory.
