Army Arrests Suspected Terrorist Amid Armed Faction Clashes in Kaduna

Army Arrests Suspected Terrorist Amid Armed Faction Clashes in Kaduna

Nigerian Army troops arrested a suspected terrorist at Forward Operating Base Afaka in Igabi Local Government Area, Kaduna State, on April 16, 2026. The operation began around 6:45 p.m. after intelligence pointed to criminal activity. Security sources say the suspect fled a camp in Sabon Birni following violent clashes between rival leaders, Dogo Gide and Kabiru. Those clashes have erupted along the Kachia–Kagarko–Chikun corridor, an area long beset by security challenges. The suspect remains in custody as investigators work to confirm his affiliations and gather further intelligence. Officials believe fractures within these armed groups could offer new opportunities to weaken their operations.

What factors do you think led to that swift Army arrest at FOB Afaka in Igabi last week?

Exactly! Must be that sharp intelligence gathering and on-point coordination that tipped them to move so fast, abi?

I doubt it was just routine patrols. Maybe they got info from locals or had other external pressures?

It seems odd that the suspect managed to escape initial surveillance before finally being caught at 6:45 p.m.

I'm not convinced one arrest changes the whole security dynamics in Kaduna. There's usually more to these operations.

Local communities should cooperate closely with troops, sharing timely information to help prevent future attacks.
