I Quit University for Love, Lost My Baby’s Father and Rebuilt My Life
I once believed a relationship could fix everything in my life. At 16, I chased flings to escape my difficult childhood in Lagos. When I won admission to Nasarawa State University, I thought distance meant freedom—but it only deepened my mistakes. In campus parties I met Ayo. He seemed perfect: generous, mature, and able to lift me out of my mum’s struggles. I moved in with him, dropped out of school and soon discovered I was pregnant. When I refused to abort, he vanished—blocked my calls and left me alone to face my family’s shame. I clawed my way back, packed my things and confronted him, only to learn he doubted our daughter was his. I completed a tailoring apprenticeship, started a POS business and slowly found my feet. A brief hope with a new partner in 2023 ended in tragedy when he died in a car crash before we could marry. Today, I’m sober most days, focused on growing my business and paying my daughter’s school fees. I’ve learned love won’t save me. Now, I’m my own hero—and I’m only 5/10 on the “streets,” but getting stronger every day.
