Police Raid at Abuja Estate Raises Alarm Over Investor Confidence

Police Raid at Abuja Estate Raises Alarm Over Investor Confidence — 1 of 3
1 / 3

On June 29, armed officers from the Nigeria Police Force’s Counter Terrorism Unit carried out an operation at the Ghanaian-owned Gallery Clubhouse in River Park Estate, Abuja. They excavated part of the entrance and barred staff from intervening. A video of the incident shows an officer demanding a staff member stop recording. The staff insisted he was documenting what he described as unlawful damage to private property. Observers have condemned the operation as an invasion of private land and warned it could dent Nigeria’s reputation among foreign investors if the legal basis for the raid is not clarified. Stakeholders are urging the Inspector-General of Police and President Tinubu to order a transparent investigation. They believe a swift and public resolution will reinforce the rule of law and reassure both domestic and international investors.
