Katsina Police Launch Statewide Crackdown on Unregistered Vehicles and Hidden Plates

Katsina Police Launch Statewide Crackdown on Unregistered Vehicles and Hidden Plates

The Katsina State Police Command has begun a full-scale operation against vehicles with invalid, concealed or improperly displayed number plates. The exercise follows a directive from Inspector-General of Police Olatunji Disu to strengthen security and improve crime detection. Any vehicle found with unregistered, forged, duplicated or obscured plates will be impounded, inspected and the driver prosecuted under existing laws. Officers have been ordered to carry out the operation professionally and to avoid any form of extortion or harassment. Motorists are advised to ensure their vehicle registration is up to date and that plates are firmly affixed and clearly visible. Residents are urged to report suspicious vehicles or any police misconduct through official channels to help keep Katsina safe.

I feel you, this move might spice up traffic jams but small traders may face longer stops at checkpoints.

I understand the need for security, but enforcing strict plate checks without proper public awareness could cause unnecessary roadblocks.

Drivers should verify their vehicle documents and inspect plate visibility today to avoid fines or impoundment during the Katsina operation.
