Anambra Govt Clears Adviser Emeakayi of Affair Claims; Odinkalu Decries ‘Cover-Up’
The Anambra State Government has officially cleared its Special Adviser on Security, Ken Emeakayi, of allegations linking him romantically with Mrs. Mmasi Nwangwu. A fact-finding committee led by the Attorney-General found no evidence to support the claims and described them as false and misleading. The panel invited all parties to testify, including Emeakayi, Mrs. Nwangwu and legal counsel for the governor’s wife. Despite repeated invitations, human rights lawyer Prof. Chidi Anselm Odinkalu declined to present his evidence or identify his sources. Odinkalu has dismissed the inquiry as an “amateur cover-up,” questioning the credibility of notifications sent via WhatsApp and insisting his allegation remains valid. He criticized the government’s process and public naming of the security adviser. The controversy follows public debate over the conviction of a native doctor in Anambra State and highlights tensions between government officials and civil society commentators.
