Burna Boy & Shakira Ignite World Cup Opening as Mexico and South Korea Triumph

The 2026 FIFA World Cup kicked off in spectacular fashion at Estadio Azteca. Burna Boy joined Shakira for a high-energy performance of the tournament anthem “Dai Dai” before the first whistle. On the pitch, host nation Mexico claimed a 2-0 victory over South Africa. Julian Quinones opened the scoring before Raúl Jiménez doubled the lead amid a fiery game that saw three players sent off. Later, South Korea overturned a 1-0 deficit to beat the Czech Republic 2-1. In-Beom Hwang levelled in the 69th minute and Hyeon-Gyu Oh sealed the win ten minutes from time, leaving both Mexico and South Korea level on points in Group A.
