Nigeria vs Iran: A Stark Contrast in Development

Nigeria vs Iran: A Stark Contrast in Development — 1 of 4
1 / 4

I argued with a friend who labeled Iran an uncivilised regime. Yet their steady power supply and 100% electrification feel like a luxury for us. Our “up NEPA” struggles sharply contrast their uninterrupted access to energy. Iran boasts 87 top-ranked universities and nearly 99% youth literacy. Women make up about 60% of students, especially in sciences and medicine. We have only 18 top universities and uneven literacy, particularly in the north. Their world-class highways, metro systems and efficient rural health care extend average life by almost 20 years. Under decades of sanctions, Iranians produce their own cars and medicines. We still import basics and dread every Naira devaluation. Before we call another nation “oppressed,” we should fix our own roof. Freedom to complain means little when you can’t read because there’s no light. As we say, make sure your own teeth are brushed before critiquing someone else’s breath.
