Army Arrests Suspected Armourer in Imo Oil Facility Attacks

Army Arrests Suspected Armourer in Imo Oil Facility Attacks

Troops of Joint Task Force South-East, Operation UDO KA, have arrested a key suspect linked to recent attacks on oil installations and security personnel in Imo State. The operation by the 34 Artillery Brigade followed credible intelligence along the Akpe Aggah–Egbema Forest axis. In the early hours of July 1, troops captured the suspect in Obiakpu Forest and recovered one AK-47, one M4A1 carbine, one M16A2 rifle, six magazines, five pump-action guns, a locally fabricated pistol and a large cache of ammunition. Preliminary investigations reveal the suspect served as principal armourer and logistics courier for the criminal group behind assaults in the Ohaji-Egbema area. He remains in custody as follow-on operations target other members of the network. The Nigerian Army reaffirmed its commitment to aggressive operations against criminal elements threatening national security and economic assets. The public is urged to share credible information through official security channels.

The Joint Task Force South-East seems focused on that forest axis, but similar attacks have happened elsewhere in Imo State recently.

Arresting one suspect doesn't guarantee all network members are exposed; real dismantling needs more than a single bust in Egbema Forest.
