A three-storey shopping complex along the Lagos–Badagry Expressway collapsed on Thursday, June 25, 2026. The building, which housed shops and business premises, gave way in the busy Alakija area. Resident Esther Udoh shared photos and a video from the scene. She said a friend’s nephew, who was trapped under the debris, has been rescued. Emergency crews confirm at least eight people, including an infant girl, died in the collapse. The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency reports that 26 others have been pulled from the rubble as search and rescue efforts continue.
