Atiku Rejects Obasanjo’s Na’Abba Bribery Claim, Says ‘The Grave Is Not a Witness Box’

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has rejected Olusegun Obasanjo’s allegation that he bribed the late former House Speaker, Ghali Na’Abba, to support an impeachment move against Obasanjo while they were in office. In a statement issued on July 24, Atiku said it was unfair to make such an allegation after Na’Abba’s death, arguing that the late speaker can no longer confirm or deny the claim. He also questioned why no legal action was taken at the time if there was evidence of wrongdoing. Atiku described the allegation as an attempt to revive old political disputes ahead of the 2027 elections. He linked the long-running rift with Obasanjo to his opposition to the former president’s alleged third-term agenda, while Obasanjo has maintained that Atiku backed efforts to impeach him and block his 2003 re-election.
