Aisha Yesufu Sets Conditions for Her 2027 Support of Peter Obi

Aisha Yesufu, rights activist and NDC senatorial aspirant for the FCT, says her backing of Peter Obi is not unconditional. In a recent interview, she stressed he is not her political godfather but a principal she will hold accountable for good governance, transparency, and accountability. She supports Obi because she believes he brings empathy and patriotism to national leadership. Yet she warned that if he strays from these principles, she will call him out without hesitation. On her own Senate bid, Yesufu emphasises that she aims to give FCT residents a stronger voice in government, bringing their issues to the forefront and turning advocacy into action. She also dismissed the APC primary figures as unbelievable and said opposition unity can take different forms ahead of 2027.
