UN Must Act Now on AI, Cyber Warfare and Arms Proliferation, Says Nigeria’s Envoy
Nigeria’s Permanent Representative to the UN, Ambassador Jimoh Ibrahim, has urged the United Nations to take proactive measures to curb rising geopolitical tensions, arms proliferation and emerging security threats. Speaking during a visit by the United States Army War College to Nigeria’s Mission in New York, he highlighted the challenges posed by artificial intelligence, cyber warfare, autonomous weapons and illicit arms transfers, and called for clear regulations and verification mechanisms. He reaffirmed President Bola Tinubu’s commitment to strengthen Nigeria’s military capacity through better funding, welfare and international partnerships. He also praised the strategic ties between Nigeria and the United States and highlighted the achievements of Nigerian officers trained at the War College.
