Scotland Captain Andy Robertson Signs for Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham Hotspur have confirmed the free transfer signing of Scotland captain Andy Robertson. The 32-year-old left-back will officially join Spurs on July 1 once his Liverpool contract expires. Manager Roberto De Zerbi praised Robertson’s leadership and technical quality. He described the former Liverpool man as a proven winner who will strengthen the squad both on and off the pitch. Robertson recorded a video message from the United States as he prepares for the World Cup. He said he can’t wait to play at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and meet the fans next season. Since joining Liverpool from Hull City in 2017, Robertson made 378 appearances, won two Premier League titles and lifted the Champions League trophy.

Free transfers are appealing, but he's leaving Liverpool after several champions league runs for a club with mixed recent form.

I'm not convinced 32-year-old fullbacks can maintain pace and consistency throughout an intense Premier League schedule.

Spurs should rotate Robertson more often to manage his workload and use his crossing beyond standard left-back duties.
