Brittni Mealy Seeks Jail Time for Future Over Uninsured Life Policy

Brittni Mealy Seeks Jail Time for Future Over Uninsured Life Policy

Future’s ex-partner, Brittni Mealy, has asked a judge to hold the rapper in contempt. She claims he failed to secure a $500,000 life insurance policy naming her as trustee for their 12-year-old son, Prince. Court documents obtained by a media outlet show a 2023 order required Future to buy the policy. Mealy says he never complied and now wants him jailed until he meets the requirement. Last year, the same judge also increased Future’s child support payments from $3,000 to $5,000 per month. Mealy is asking the court to enforce the insurance order with incarceration. Future has not yet responded to the latest petition.

Do you think holding Future in contempt is fair given the court's insurance order for their son?

It's reasonable to hold him in contempt when he won't follow a clear court order to secure insurance for his son.

Tagging Future with contempt now feels premature when a court order is in play, make we reason am first.

It seems odd that a high-profile artist would overlook such a significant court mandate for his own child's security.

Jail seems extreme when civil penalties or mediation could resolve this insurance oversight more fairly.

Future should finalize the required policy immediately and parents might consider setting automatic reminders for court-ordered tasks.
