Chief Obby Okwubanego Reflects on Gender Equality Gains at UN Women CSW70
By Izunna Okafor, Awka Chief Mrs Obby Okwubanego, also known as Ife Nwafija, attended the 70th Session of the Commission on the Status of Women at the UN Headquarters in New York from March 9–19, 2026. She calls the experience enriching and a strong boost to her advocacy for gender equality and inclusive development. The global gathering brought together policymakers, civil society groups and development partners. It focused on strengthening access to justice for women and girls, highlighting the need for coordinated action and practical solutions. Chief Okwubanego valued the chance to exchange ideas and insights with participants from diverse backgrounds. She plans to align local community initiatives in Anambra with global policy directions to drive meaningful change for women and families.
