Obasanjo’s Health Secrets: Managing Diabetes for Over 40 Years
Former President Olusegun Obasanjo says he was diagnosed with diabetes more than 40 years ago. He credits disciplined exercise, balanced nutrition and routine check-ups for his continued health. Speaking in Abeokuta at a cancer awareness event hosted by the Lagos to the World Initiative at the presidential library, he urged Nigerians to prioritise early disease detection and regular screenings. Adventurer U. Erik Nwagwu announced a global road expedition in memory of his late mother and sister. The journey will start in West Africa and extend across Europe, Asia, the Americas and Australia to raise prostate cancer awareness. Campaign partners include Axa Mansard Insurance, BMW Club Nigeria and Zuri Health, which are providing free screenings for prostate cancer, blood pressure, blood sugar and body mass index. Obasanjo warned that many preventable deaths occur due to late diagnosis.
