Six Alleged 2025 Coup Plotters Plead Not Guilty to Treason in Abuja Court

Six Alleged 2025 Coup Plotters Plead Not Guilty to Treason in Abuja Court

Six men accused of planning a 2025 coup against President Bola Tinubu appeared before the Federal High Court in Abuja on Tuesday. They include a retired major general and five others. All denied charges of treason and terrorism. Court documents allege they conspired to levy war against the state and supported acts of terrorism linked to the plot. The accused are named Mohammed Ibrahim Gana, Erasmus Ochegobia Victor, Ahmed Ibrahim, Zekeri Umoru, Bukar Kashim Goni and Abdulkadir Sani. Prosecutors say Colonel Mohammed Alhassan Ma’aji masterminded the plan. Former oil minister Timipre Sylva is also mentioned as “still at large,” though he has denied involvement. The case was adjourned until April 27 as proceedings continue.

Claiming innocence is one thing, but we shouldn't just dismiss court documents without seeing stronger evidence first.
