One Killed, Several Injured in Explosion at Rotterdam Refinery Terminal

At least one person has died and several others were injured after an explosion at a refinery and fuel terminal operated by Gunvor Energy in the Port of Rotterdam, Europe’s largest port. Police said the blast is being treated as a possible workplace accident while investigators examine the scene. A maintenance team was reportedly working on pipes at the facility when the explosion occurred. A separate power failure and transformer fire affected another part of the port, forcing some companies to halt operations and evacuate workers. Emergency services later restored power and said the blackout was not linked to the explosion.
