Awka Diaspora Medical Team Brings Free Healthcare and ICT Training to Amikwo
Residents of Amikwo and nearby villages gathered at the Manari Osonwa Primary Health Centre for a free medical mission organized by the Awka Union USA-Canada. The team provided consultations, antenatal care, blood pressure and sugar tests, and treatments at no cost. Built by Chief Onuora Godwin Osonwa and handed over to the state government in 2025, the facility now thrives on community support and monthly visits from volunteer doctors. More than ten successful deliveries have taken place there, with new mothers receiving cash gifts, baby items and household supplies. The centre also runs a free ICT training programme to equip young people with digital skills. Graduates leave with laptops and ongoing mentorship. This blend of healthcare and empowerment highlights the impact of diaspora-driven community development.
