Kalejaye Demands National Emergency to Tackle Rising Terror Threat
An Ibadan-based Senior Advocate of Nigeria has called on President Tinubu to declare a national emergency on banditry, kidnapping and terrorism. He argues that decisive action is needed to reverse the surge in violent crimes that tarnish Nigeria’s image. He warns that criminals impersonating military personnel threaten public confidence in security institutions. He urges the government to move from reactive to proactive security management by identifying and neutralising threats before they grow. While acknowledging current efforts, he insists that only a formal emergency declaration will signal Nigeria’s resolve to defeat violence. He stresses that safeguarding lives and property is a core constitutional duty and calls for concrete strategies to crush criminal networks now spreading into urban centres.
