Lagos Red Line to Operate 8-Car Trains, Move 500,000 Daily, Says Sanwo-Olu
The Lagos State Government has secured 24 new coaches from China to expand its Red Line Rail network. Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu says the eight-car trains will run the 27 km corridor from Oyingbo to Agbado. With up to 37 daily trips, the line should carry over 500,000 passengers each day. Plans are under way to extend the service into Ogun State. Meanwhile, the Omi-Eko water transport project will introduce high-capacity electric boats by 2027 to complete Lagos’s rail, road and water integration. This upgrade aims to ease commuter traffic, boost productivity and increase state revenues.
