IPOB Suspends Nnamdi Kanu, Institutes Directorate of States
IPOB has indefinitely suspended the office of its leader, Nnamdi Kanu, and the position of Radio Biafra director. This move follows unguarded communications from Kanu in Sokoto prison. During a June 17, 2026 meeting of its Directorate of States, the group reviewed statements that allegedly triggered arrests and led to deaths of members and civilians in the Southeast. Chikadibia Edoziem confirmed the decision and announced that newly appointed state directors will now oversee IPOB operations. The restructuring aims to tighten internal controls and prevent further incidents affecting members and innocent citizens.
