I grew up watching my mother’s partners come and go. Their arguments and sudden disappearances made marriage feel more frightening than desirable. Meeting my husband changed my mind. His calm strength surprised me. A tense moment at a party showed me he was protective, and we married two years later. Childbirth tested me with panic and fear. Now, between work, children and home, intimacy often feels like another task. I find myself always initiating and craving spontaneity. Marriage has taught me patience and self-awareness.
