21 Former Almajiri Children Graduate After Training in Drone Assembly and Electronics Repair
Twenty-one former Almajiri children are set to graduate in Abuja after completing training in drone assembly, computer repair and other electronics skills. The programme is designed to help them move from street begging into paid work and small business ownership. The trainees also received entrepreneurship lessons, mentorship, meals, transport support and learning materials. Organisers say outstanding graduates will get work tools and start-up support, while a business directory will link them to customers who need repair services. The post describes the initiative as a good one, but also says there is concern that the beneficiaries should not later be drawn into criminal activity. It presents the project as a possible model for tackling youth unemployment, out-of-school children and insecurity in Nigeria.
