Chelle Backs NFF Bid to Win Over Brentford’s €35m Star Michael Kayode
Super Eagles coach Eric Chelle has given the green light for the Nigeria Football Federation to open direct talks with Brentford right-back Michael Kayode. Kayode is a 21-year-old defender born in Italy to Nigerian parents. He joined Brentford permanently in 2025 and is currently valued at €35 million. He has impressed with his pace, energy and trademark long throw-ins. The NFF aims to persuade him to switch his international allegiance ahead of the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations. This push follows his recent omission from Italy’s senior squad for the 2026 World Cup play-offs. Sources indicate the initial discussions have been positive.
