38-Year-Old Arrested for Shouting “No Water, No Light” During Governor’s Visit in Suleja
The Niger State Police confirm that Hamisu Abdullahi, 38, was arrested after shouting “no water, no light” at the Emir’s palace during Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago’s Eid visit to Suleja. The incident occurred shortly after the Eid-el-Fitr prayers last Friday. According to SP Wasiu Abiodun, Abdullahi was charged with suspected thuggery and disrupting government activities. He was transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Minna on March 20, 2026. After five days in detention, Abdullahi was granted bail. He is an electrician and father of four living in Unguwan Bayi, Suleja. The investigation is ongoing.
