Nigeria Breaks 43s Barrier to Win Women’s 4x100m Gold, Men’s Quartet Claim Silver at ASAC 2026

The Nigerian women’s 4x100m team of Rosemary Nwankwo, Obi Jennifer Chukwuka, Rosemary Chukwuma and Miracle Ezechukwu defended their title in Accra. They posted a historic 42.94s to become the first quartet under 43 seconds in African Championships history. They held off Liberia, who finished second, and hosts Ghana in Friday’s final. On the same day, the men’s relay team of Favour Ashe, James Taiwo Emmanuel, Tejiri Godwin and Chidera Ezeakor took silver in 38.70s. Côte d’Ivoire won gold, while Ghana earned bronze.
