Top Acts Pull Out of Trump’s Freedom 250 Concert Over Political Concerns

Several artists have withdrawn from the Freedom 250 concert on the National Mall after learning the event has political backing. Morris Day & The Time, The Commodores and Martina McBride were among the first to distance themselves, saying they were led to believe it was a nonpartisan celebration. Young MC called it a “bait-and-switch” after hearing it was Trump-backed. Some acts, including Vanilla Ice and Freedom Williams of C + C Music Factory, still plan to perform despite other artists’ objections. Organisers say the concert is part of America’s 250th anniversary celebrations under a White House task force.
