Morocco Pulls Out of Bidding to Host CAF Tournaments, Announces FA President

Morocco Pulls Out of Bidding to Host CAF Tournaments, Announces FA President — 1 of 2
1 / 2

Fouzi Lekjaa, president of the Moroccan Football Federation, has confirmed in a recent interview that Morocco will no longer submit bids to host any African football competitions. He made the announcement amid criticism and allegations of undue influence over CAF decision-making. Lekjaa defended Morocco’s track record, pointing out that his country organised major events when others declined and clarified that his role on CAF’s finance committee is based on professional expertise rather than national bias. With Morocco stepping back, Nigeria is now set to host the next CAF Awards. Morocco will instead focus on global tournaments like the 2029 FIFA Club World Cup and co-hosting the 2030 World Cup.
