ASUU Gives FG Four-Day Deadline to Pay New Lecturer Salaries
On March 26 at Saadu Zungur University’s Yuli Campus in Bauchi, ASUU President Professor Christopher Piwuna issued a four-day ultimatum to the Federal Government. He demanded immediate implementation of the salary structure agreed in December 2025 and set to take effect in January 2026. Piwuna warned that failure to act would provoke a strong union response. He lamented the government’s history of unfulfilled agreements, which have repeatedly led to industrial disputes and strikes. He also criticized plans for a Coventry University branch in Nigeria as a form of colonialism. Piwuna urged the FG to partner with ASUU instead, to raise the standard of local universities and better serve future generations.
