Enugu Housing Corporation Unveils Community-Centered Plan to Bridge Affordable Housing Gap
The Enugu State Housing Development Corporation rolled out a new demand-driven model at the 20th Africa International Housing Show in Abuja. The approach aims to align housing delivery with Nigerians’ needs, budgets, and location preferences. Officials highlighted poor site selection as a key reason many low-income estates remain vacant. The new strategy secures affordable land in desirable areas, enabling families to build homes at their own pace and within their means. At the conference, the Corporation showcased its flagship “Tomorrow Is Here” community in Owo, complete with roads, drainage, power, and water infrastructure. The model underscores the need for public-private partnerships to scale up affordable housing nationwide. This year’s show drew government officials, investors, developers, and finance experts from over 30 countries to explore innovative policies, financing models, and collaborations for expanding access to decent homes across Africa.
