Àì Tètè Mú Olè, ÒLè Mú Olókò: Inside the Alimosho APC Split
Àì Tètè Mú Olè, ÒLè Mú Olókò is a Yoruba proverb that warns how delays in catching a wrongdoer can shift blame onto innocents. This lesson played out in Alimosho Local Government after the 2023 elections exposed deep fractures within the APC. Tensions began in 2019 when Adejoke Orelope-Adefulire’s preferred candidate lost the APC ticket and ran under the Accord Party. In 2022, Idris Balogun, close to Hon. Bisi Yusuf, helped organise Labour Party primaries. These parallel activities sapped party unity without formal discipline. After the APC defeat, internal blame fell on Abdullahi Enilolobo, who had no link to the anti-party manoeuvres. As leaders now reunite behind new candidates for 2027, the fate of accountability and cohesion remains the key question in Alimosho politics.
