Oyo Police Arrest Six Informants Linked to Oriire School Abduction
Oyo State Police Command says it has arrested six suspects helping kidnappers in the Oriire Local Government school abduction. None of the main forest-based bandits have been caught yet. Two commercial motorcyclists were nabbed in Ojoo while allegedly collecting ransom. Three others from Gbugbu (Kwara State) and Ago-Are (Oyo State) were picked up in follow-up operations. Military personnel also arrested a university student found with a victim’s phone. Intercepted calls show informants directing kidnappers through Old Oyo National Park and evading security borders. Officials say bandits use call-routing technology and network-masking devices to hide their details, bypassing the NIN-SIM policy. The Central Bank of Nigeria and anti-graft agencies have frozen bank accounts linked to the suspects. Authorities continue investigations as prosecutions move forward.
