NPF to Discipline Officers in Viral Lagos Harassment Video

NPF to Discipline Officers in Viral Lagos Harassment Video

The Nigeria Police Force says it will take action against officers captured in a viral video harassing an upcoming rap artist and his friend in the Abulado area of Lagos. The footage shows the officers stopping the vehicle, ordering the men out, and demanding they move to another location for a search. When one man began filming and asked why they were being moved, the officers grew angry and tried to stop the recording. Many Nigerians condemned the officers’ conduct and called for swift justice. In a statement on its social media handle, the police complaint response unit said the inspector-general of police has directed the Satellite Town divisional police officer to produce the identified officers in Abuja on April 8 for disciplinary proceedings. The NPF says the officers will face appropriate sanctions as part of its commitment to end impunity.

You're right—they need full transparency and real consequences; I'm not convinced promises alone will restore trust.

It's curious that harassment on video prompts swift declarations, yet similar incidents often go unnoticed or unaddressed by authorities.

I no believe they'll discipline officers properly unless Nigerians keep demanding accountability every time a video appears.

Citizens should document any encounters with security officers and submit evidence to oversight bodies to ensure timely investigations.
