Difficult people can be family members, colleagues, neighbours, church members or strangers. Their criticism, offence or hurtful behaviour can make love feel difficult, especially when we would rather be around people who encourage and appreciate us. The Bible calls Christians to love beyond convenience. Jesus taught believers to love one another as He loved them, extending grace even to those who misunderstand, oppose or mistreat them. This kind of love reflects spiritual maturity, encourages reconciliation and depends on the transforming power of the Holy Spirit.
