French Development Agency Boosts Kaduna BRT with Technical and Financial Support
Kaduna State Transport Regulatory Authority recently hosted officials from the French Development Agency for a two-day technical review of the Kaduna Bus Rapid Transit project. The AFD reaffirmed its commitment to providing extra technical and financial support to ensure the project meets its milestones. During a visit to the Ministry of Works and Public Infrastructure, AFD Country Director Jacky Amprou highlighted the mission's goal to evaluate progress and support the team. Engr Inuwa Ibrahim of KADSTRA welcomed the delegation and outlined key areas needing further backing. The Permanent Secretary noted that Governor Uba Sani sees the BRT system as a landmark legacy and pledged full government support. Team leads from EPC and PMOD acknowledged challenges but expressed confidence that groundbreaking will begin on schedule. Kaduna is the second Nigerian state and the first in the North to adopt a BRT system. Groundbreaking is set for June 2026, marking a milestone in sustainable urban transport.
