14-Year-Old Dean Roy Launches Historic Vermont Governor Campaign

14-Year-Old Dean Roy Launches Historic Vermont Governor Campaign

Fourteen-year-old Dean Roy has announced his bid for the governorship of Vermont. He plans to appear on the November ballot alongside other candidates. Roy formed his own Freedom and Unity Party for this race. Vermont’s constitution sets no minimum age for governor. It only requires four years of state residency. Roy says his goal is not to win, but to inspire young people to engage in politics. He hopes his campaign will spark broader youth involvement and push for real change.

I'm not convinced a fourteen-year-old has the experience to lead a state, even if the constitution permits the run.

He'll need a strong support team and clear policy proposals to gain serious traction among voters beyond the novelty factor.
