Fake Eze Ndigbo of Kano Remanded Over ₦147m Fraud
Ikechukwu Oliver Akpudo has been remanded in police custody for allegedly posing as the Eze Ndigbo of Kano and defrauding Maduka Madubuike of ₦147 million. Justice Simon Amobeda of the Federal High Court in Kano ordered the remand after Akpudo was arraigned on a charge of obtaining money by false pretense under the Advance Fee Fraud Act. Prosecutors say the suspect provided a bank account in his name and claimed the funds were for a property purchase. Akpudo pleaded not guilty. Documents before the court include bank statements, payment receipts, statements from both the complainant and the defendant, and evidence of the property involved. The case is adjourned to July 2, 2026, for continuation.
