Obi, Ngige and Soludo Lead Farewell to NIPR Protocol Icon Chief Uche Udedibia in Anambra

Obi, Ngige and Soludo Lead Farewell to NIPR Protocol Icon Chief Uche Udedibia in Anambra — 1 of 3
1 / 3

Chief (Dr) Uche Augustine Udedibia, distinguished NIPR fellow and former Permanent Secretary of Anambra State, was laid to rest in his home village of Obieze, Ifitedunu in Dunukofia LGA. The ceremony drew former governors Peter Obi, Chris Ngige and Governor Chukwuma Soludo alongside leadership from the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR). A lying-in-state at the family residence allowed colleagues and friends, including the NIPR president and council members, to pay their final respects. The funeral mass at Saint Gabriel Catholic Church, attended by over twenty priests, was marked by a homily from Reverend Father Prof Boniface Obiefuna, who celebrated Udedibia’s legacy as a protocol pioneer and peacemaker. Throughout the service, NIPR Anambra Chapter executives, past commissioners and top government officials highlighted his mentorship of public relations officers and his unifying impact on the institute and the state’s public service.

What do you think the presence of Obi, Ngige, and Soludo at Chief Udedibia's farewell says about political unity in Anambra?

Do you think their joint appearance here goes beyond ceremony? Maybe a sign of genuine alliance or just respect for the chief?

Not every protocol icon gets that kind of send-off, even with notable governors attending, so the spectacle feels a bit politically timed.

I'm not convinced the ceremony did more than showcase political alliances instead of honoring his lasting impact on local protocols.

Local associations could archive Chief Udedibia's protocol guides and organize workshops in Anambra for upcoming NIPR officers.
