Our Toddler’s Hilarious ‘Claim Mum’ Moment

Our Toddler’s Hilarious ‘Claim Mum’ Moment

Our little girl has already mastered the art of claiming Mum all to herself. The moment Dad moves in for a hug, a chat or a cuddle, she pops up with serious determination and gently pushes him aside. From planting herself between us to demanding extra snuggles, she gives Dad the side-eye whenever he gets too comfortable. Sharing Mum is clearly not part of her plan right now. These tiny displays of jealousy are also the sweetest reminders of how deeply children love and feel safe with their parents. One second we’re laughing, the next our hearts are completely melted. Dad is busy negotiating custody rights, but according to “toddler law,” Mum belongs to our little madam for the moment.

Have you noticed any other times your toddler shows a preference for Mum over Dad?

Absolutely. I've seen my toddler reach for Mum more when needing comfort. It's just so natural.

It's odd she'll gently push Dad away instead of enjoying his cuddles, even though he's just trying to join in.

Cute as it is, don't you think this might unintentionally sideline Dad's chance to bond with her?

Try rotating cuddle sessions between parents throughout the day, so your toddler learns to enjoy both Mum and Dad equally.
