10 Marks of a True Follower of Christ

This Sunday School teaching examines what it means to be a true follower of Christ. Christianity is more than church attendance, Bible knowledge or carrying the name “Christian.” Genuine discipleship is shown in a life that is gradually transformed to reflect Jesus. Drawing from Luke 9:23, John 13:34–35, Philippians 2:5–8 and other passages, the lesson highlights love for God, obedience, humility, love for others, forgiveness, self-denial, integrity, service, good fruit and perseverance. It stresses that believers should practise God’s Word, not only know it. Humility is central to the teaching. A humble Christian is teachable, serves others, accepts correction, gives God the glory and does not seek constant recognition. True faith is tested both in public and in private, including how we speak, handle money, treat family and respond when our ego is challenged.
