DSS, Forest Guards Seize Medical Cache Bound for ISWAP in Borno

DSS, Forest Guards Seize Medical Cache Bound for ISWAP in Borno — 1 of 4
1 / 4

The DSS in Borno State, alongside forest guards, intercepted a large consignment of medical supplies intended for ISWAP fighters. The haul was seized on June 5 during a coordinated operation in Kaga LGA along a suspected insurgent supply route. Security sources said the shipment included pain relief drugs, anti-malarial injections, antibiotics and other pharmaceuticals, along with consumables likely used for battlefield resupply. Linked to efforts by ISWAP to replenish forces hit by recent US-AFRICOM and Nigerian military operations, the seized items are now in custody for forensic examination as part of intensified counter-terrorism efforts.

Seizing medical supplies is important, but insurgents may already have alternative routes ready for smuggling essentials.

Has there been any report on how insurgents could bypass the recent medical supply seizure?

Good job seizing the cache, but operations like this only treat symptoms without addressing why these routes remain active.

Security forces should strengthen community patrols around Kaga LGA and improve intelligence sharing to preempt future insurgent shipments.
