Tinubu Appoints Rilwan Babalola to Lead Power Sector Overhaul with 90-Day Reset Plan
President Tinubu has named Rilwan Lanre Babalola as Special Adviser on Power and Chairman of the Presidential Taskforce on Power Sector Reset and Restoration. The taskforce will work under a direct presidential mandate to restore discipline, efficiency and commercial viability in the electricity value chain. Its mandate includes reducing losses, strengthening tariff integrity, improving revenue assurance and promoting productive use of power. Mr Babalola, a former Minister of Power, is expected to deliver a comprehensive 90-day blueprint for a system reset. This aligns with the Renewed Hope Agenda’s focus on urgent, measurable improvements in power supply and sector performance.
