How I Found My Husband Amid Facebook Roasts – Gospel Singer Amaka Gift Opens Up

How I Found My Husband Amid Facebook Roasts – Gospel Singer Amaka Gift Opens Up — 1 of 4
1 / 4

Nigerian gospel singer Amaka Gift has shared her unlikely love story three years after her former fiancé accused her of leaving him for another man. She revealed that she met her husband on Facebook during a period when she was under heavy online criticism. Her ex-fiancé, Favour Ibex, claimed in August 2023 that he had invested in her career for nine years and felt betrayed when she moved on. He had introduced her to music in 2017 after they met at their church choir. They kept their relationship private to protect her reputation and education. In a Facebook post on April 6, 2026, Amaka posted photos with her husband and thanked him for standing by her. "What if I tell you I met my husband on this blue app when people were roasting me?" she wrote. She added that he insisted on marrying her, saying, "Amaka, you are my wife and I’m not giving up on you whether you’re ready or not."

It seems odd that she only opened up three years later after public accusations.

Maybe the roasting wasn't the main challenge; maintaining trust after social media drama is tougher than finding someone online.

Focus on genuine conversation instead of public opinions when meeting people online—it builds more meaningful relationships over time.
