Nigerian Among Three Arrested in India’s ₦165 Billion Cocaine Bust
Indian authorities intercepted a cargo vessel off Mundra port in late May. They seized 115 kg of high-grade cocaine worth over ₦164 billion and four electronic tracking devices. The consignment was loaded in Brazil and moved through Latin America, the US and Pakistan before reaching Gujarat. Officials found the drugs hidden in the ship’s motor room. Three suspects are now in custody, including Nigerian national Kelvin Chukwuama. A Tanzanian and an Ugandan national were also arrested. One crew member remains at large after diving into the sea to evade capture. An investigation under India’s Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act is ongoing to trace the final destination of the shipment and dismantle the trafficking network.
