OGEPA Launches Statewide Drive to Improve Industrial Environmental Practices — 1 of 2
1 / 2

The Ogun State Environmental Protection Agency (OGEPA) has begun a tour of industries in Ogun Central, Ogun West and Ogun East senatorial districts. The move aims to assess environmental compliance and build stronger partnerships between the private sector and the agency. OGEPA’s General Manager urged companies to step up staff training on environmental standards and adopt global best practices. He also called on industries to invest in tree-planting initiatives, proper hazardous waste management and fully operational effluent treatment plants to safeguard the environment. The agency’s Inspectorate and Compliance Director highlighted essential permits for operations, including chemical storage and effluent discharge approvals. Industry representatives praised the initiative as a key step toward sustainable development and improved corporate social responsibility in Ogun State.

Pairing these tours with clear timelines for corrective actions and regular public updates could boost accountability and real change.
